From lecture hall to study notes

A three-hour seminar, turned into something you can revise from the same evening.

Long seminars, in one file

Evening classes and graduate seminars often run a full three hours with one break. The recording goes in as a single file of up to 10 hours, so the lecture keeps one clock from the opening slide to the last question.

Chapters that match the syllabus

The chapters mark where the professor moves from one topic to the next, so a week's reading can be matched to the part of the lecture that covered it. Jumping to the forty minutes on methods is one click, not a scrub through the video. upload page

A semester, costed

Fourteen 2-hour lectures come to 1,680 minutes, inside the 2,000 minutes of a $12 pack. Two full courses of that length need the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes, at $0.29 an audio hour. Neither requires a subscription, and unused minutes stay for next term.

Ask the lecture a question

The chat answers questions over the transcript, such as which three causes the professor listed or when the reading for week nine was mentioned. The brief gives the thesis of the lecture in a few lines for the night before an exam.

Why lecture recordings are hard to study from

A recording is not notes; three hours of video is not revision.

✗ Rewatching and auto-captions

Students fall back on rewatching at double speed, or on caption text that has no structure and no headings.

  • Three hours of video per week to rewatch
  • Caption text with no chapters
  • Free tools that stop after an hour
  • Handwritten notes with gaps
  • Questions from the floor that nobody wrote down
  • No way to search across the semester

✓ Each lecture, structured

The lecture comes back with a brief, chapters and a transcript you can search.

  • Roughly 6 minutes per 3-hour lecture
  • Chapters per topic with times
  • Professor and students named in the summary
  • Questions the lecture answers, listed
  • DOCX for notes, SRT for captions
  • A semester on one pack

00:04:18 Last week we stopped at the 1930s. Tonight is the postwar settlement, and I want you to hold three questions in mind.
01:02:40 Notice that the policy didn't fail because it was badly designed. It failed because nobody funded the second phase.
01:48:55 Is that the same argument the second reading makes, or is she disagreeing with it?
01:49:10 She's disagreeing, quietly. Look at her footnotes on page forty and you'll see it.
02:51:30 For next week, read chapters six and seven, and bring one question about the data.

FAQ

Lecture recordings, the usual questions.

How quickly is a 3-hour lecture transcribed?

About 6 minutes, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. A 75-minute class is ready in under 3 minutes.

What does a full semester of lectures cost?

Total the minutes. One 3-hour lecture is 180 minutes, which fits the $6 pack of 500. Fourteen 2-hour lectures is 1,680 minutes and fits the $12 pack of 2,000. Two courses, or a twice-weekly class over a full semester, belong on the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes. On a first recording, the first 20 minutes are free.

The lecture video is a large MP4. Will it upload?

Up to 2 GB uploads before you have a pack, and up to 5 GB per file after one. A lecture posted on YouTube can be pasted as a link instead, with nothing to upload.

Should I split a long lecture into parts?

No. Each file can run up to 10 hours, which is far longer than any lecture. Splitting only creates separate transcripts with separate clocks.

Does it work for lectures in Spanish or another language?

Yes. 99 languages are detected automatically. A Spanish literature seminar comes back in Spanish, and a lecture that switches languages for a quotation follows its main language.

Can I share the transcript, and is my recording private?

Export DOCX or TXT for notes, SRT or VTT for captions, and JSON for study tools. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. Check your course's rules on sharing recordings before you pass a transcript on.
