What it is

Georgian is another low-resource language with no major commercial STT vendor. Academic groups in Tbilisi have published Georgian-tuned ASR checkpoints (mostly Whisper and wav2vec2 fine-tunes) on Hugging Face. These are the practical baseline for any Georgian-language transcription project until commercial vendors emerge. Best fit when the buyer is georgian-language transcription for journalism, archives, and accessibility projects. The honest caveat: research-grade with limited maintenance. As with any open-weights release, the integrator owns hosting, scaling, and SLA — but the licensing cost is zero and the model can be fine-tuned on in-house audio.

Best for: Georgian-language transcription for journalism, archives, and accessibility projects.
Watch out for: Research-grade with limited maintenance.
