Hello Transcribe, by developer Ben Nortier, is an App Store app that transcribes speech on the device with OpenAI Whisper and whisper.cpp, so it works offline and audio stays on the phone. It handles voice notes (for example from WhatsApp), podcasts, audio files and supported video formats, transcribes the microphone live, can translate into English, and saves encrypted results to iCloud. PRO, sold as a one-time in-app purchase or as a subscription (the US App Store listed $6.99 and $1.99 on 11 October 2026), adds presets, SRT and VTT subtitle export and saving audio for re-transcription. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Apple Silicon Macs; the App Store lists version 4.1.10 (4 March 2026) and iOS 18.6 or later.

Long recordings from your phone, without the battery hit
- Open whipscribe.com in Safari, tap the upload box and choose the recording in Files (a Voice Memo can be saved to Files from its Share menu first), or paste a Google Drive link.
- The language is detected automatically and the transcript stays in the language that was spoken (WhipScribe does not translate).
- Read the summary free. A pack from $6 (500 minutes) opens the full transcript and the downloads: TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Packs are one-time purchases and credits never expire.
- Files can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file. Once the upload finishes, the work runs on WhipScribe's servers, not on the phone.
