Khipu Andean ASR

What it is

AmericasNLP and the broader Khipu community publish datasets and ASR baselines for indigenous languages of the Americas — Quechua, Aymara, Guarani, Nahuatl, and others — that have effectively zero coverage from commercial vendors. These models and corpora are the realistic entry point for any project needing speech transcription in those languages. Best fit when the buyer is researchers and civic-tech projects working with quechua, aymara, and other indigenous andean languages. The honest caveat: research artefacts; not a turnkey production product. As with any open-weights release, the integrator owns hosting, scaling, and SLA — but the licensing cost is zero and the model can be fine-tuned on in-house audio.
