What it is
Voicetypr is an open-source (AGPL-3.0) dictation app built with Tauri, Rust and React. A global shortcut records; the text is transcribed locally (Whisper on macOS and Windows, Parakeet on Apple Silicon) or by an optional cloud provider (Soniox, OpenAI, Groq, Deepgram, Cohere) and inserted at the cursor. It also transcribes audio and video files, keeps a searchable history, can share one installation as a transcription server on your network, and has a CLI (voicetypr transcribe --file … --json). After the trial a lifetime licence keeps local models unmetered. The repository moved from moinulmoin/voicetypr to ideaplexa/voicetypr; the latest release is v2.0.9 (9 October 2026).
