What it is

Web Captioner is a free open-source web app that captions whatever the microphone hears, live, in the browser. Output can be styled (font, size, color) for projector use, exported to TXT/SRT, or piped to OBS via a browser source. Used widely in worship, classroom, and accessibility settings. No account required.

Best for: Churches, events, classrooms projecting live captions from a laptop with zero setup.
Watch out for: Relies on the browser's Web Speech API (Chrome ships Google's cloud recognizer by default) — audio is sent to Google. Accuracy varies by mic and environment.
