Why people go looking
A fine deal if February looks like November.
Transkriptor lists Lite at $9.99 a month for 300 minutes, Pro at $19.99 for 2,400, and Team at $30 per seat for 3,000, with Pro billed annually at $8.33 a month. It states 100 plus languages, translation, speaker identification and AI summaries (per transkriptor.com/pricing, checked 2026-09-15).
Whipscribe has no plan to choose. Minutes come in packs — $8 for 1,000, $12 for 2,000, $24 for 5,000 — yours from the moment you buy them. No allowance to forfeit, no seat for a colleague who transcribes twice a year. Files run to 10 hours or 5 GB. For subtitles, try the caption generator or YouTube to SRT.

Transkriptor offers more around the transcript. Whipscribe offers the transcript, the captions, and minutes that survive the billing month.
The arithmetic, out loud
Twenty-four hours is 1,440 minutes: a single $12 pack of 2,000, with 560 to spare. Transkriptor Lite at $9.99 a month is $119.88 for the year and gives 300 minutes a month; this person uses 120.
Run it the other way: a full 2,400 minutes a month on Pro billed annually is $99.99 for 480 hours — a rate our packs do not beat. If that is your year, Transkriptor Pro is the better buy.
Who this suits
Monthly minutes only pay off if they are spent.
Fieldwork for six weeks, analysis for six months. An allowance sized for the peak is wasted; one sized for the average cannot take it.
A hundred old recordings to get through once, then nothing. Buy the minutes, work the pile.
One transcribes daily, three twice a year; per-seat pricing charges for all four. Attribution is on the speaker labels page.
Same format for Rev, Sonix, Trint and Happy Scribe.
Questions people ask first
Transkriptor sells a monthly allowance: Lite at $9.99 for 300 minutes, Pro at $19.99 for 2,400, Team at $30 per seat for 3,000 (per transkriptor.com/pricing, checked 2026-09-15). Whipscribe sells minutes outright, $8 for 1,000 or $24 for 5,000, with no month attached.
It depends on how steady your volume is. Transkriptor Pro billed annually is $99.99 for up to 2,400 minutes a month (per transkriptor.com/pricing, checked 2026-09-15) — used fully, that per-hour rate beats ours. If your work comes in bursts, packs win: an unused month costs nothing.
Transkriptor's pricing page lists a free tier of 90 minutes (checked 2026-09-15). On Whipscribe a pack from $4 opens the full transcript, so one long recording goes through complete.
Whipscribe accepts a single file of up to 10 hours or 5 GB. Transkriptor's pricing page states monthly totals but no per-file cap, so we cannot quote one. For full-day recordings, check with them first.
Whipscribe gives you TXT, DOCX as a real Word file, SRT, VTT, JSON and Markdown. Transkriptor states export as TXT, SRT, Word or Plain Text (per transkriptor.com/pricing, checked 2026-09-15). If you need VTT or JSON, that is a practical difference.
Neither. Whipscribe transcribes speech in the language it was spoken. Transkriptor states 100 plus languages, translation to 100 plus languages, and custom vocabulary on Team (per transkriptor.com/pricing, checked 2026-09-15). For multilingual work, that is a real advantage on their side.
No allowance, no reset date, no seat to justify. Packs from $4 in full, at any length; packs from $4 for 500 minutes.
