Transcribe church services from New Zealand, every Sunday.
A New Zealand church service of 90 to 120 minutes becomes text in about 4 minutes, and the first 20 minutes are free. A $6 pack of 500 minutes then holds four two-hour services, so a month of Sundays costs one small pack.
What a Sunday looks like here
The whole service goes in. The sermon comes out ready to share.
Every part of the service, timed
Welcome, readings, prayers, the sermon and notices each land in their own chapter with a timestamp, so whoever writes the newsletter can find the notices without scrubbing through ninety minutes. Waiata, hymns and the band are left out, because music is not transcribed; the spoken parts are.
Livestream link or saved file
If the service went out on YouTube, paste the replay link and nothing needs downloading. A Facebook stream has to be downloaded first and then uploaded. A recording from the desk or a phone goes straight into upload page.
A month of services on one pack
Four services of two hours each come to 480 minutes. The $6 pack holds 500, so the month fits with 20 minutes to spare, and anything left over stays on the account for the next one.
From sermon to study notes
The brief states the sermon's main point and takeaways, the key quotes carry the preacher's name, and the questions the recording answers make a ready start for a home group discussion sheet.
Why services are awkward elsewhere
A full service is longer than a free tier and shorter than a typist's week.
✗ Typing up the sermon by hand
A volunteer with the audio and a keyboard can lose a whole evening to a single message.
- Five or more hours to type one sermon
- Free tiers that end mid-service
- A monthly plan for one recording a week
- Hymn lyrics mixed into the text
- No timestamps for the video team
- Nothing to search across past weeks
✓ The service in, the sermon out
One recording goes in and a dated, searchable document comes back the same morning.
- About 4 minutes per service
- No charge for the opening 20 minutes
- Four services on $6
- Music skipped, speech kept
- Chapters for each part
- Captions for the online replay

FAQ
Church services in New Zealand, the common questions.
How long does a two-hour service take to transcribe?
Roughly 4 minutes; the pace is about 2 minutes for each hour of audio. A 90-minute service is usually done in around 3, often before the morning tea dishes are washed.
What does a year of services cost?
A year of 90-minute services is 52 times 90, or 4,680 minutes, which sits on the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes at about $0.29 an audio hour. For a single month, the $6 pack of 500 minutes covers four two-hour services. A church team that records several services a week may prefer the $19 a month Workspace.
How big can the recording be, and will I need to split it?
One file can run to 10 hours or 5 GB, so a service never needs splitting. Before the first pack, uploads go up to 2 GB, which an audio file of a service never reaches; a high-resolution video might, and saving the audio alone solves that.
What about te reo Māori in the service?
Languages are detected automatically, 99 of them, and each recording is detected on its main language. If the service is mostly English with karakia, mihi or waiata in te reo, give the te reo passages a review pass against the audio.
Which files come back, and is the recording kept private?
Five formats come back: TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and a service can be deleted along with its transcript at any time.
Can we put captions on the online replay?
Yes. Download the SRT or VTT file and add it to the replay on your video platform; the timings match the recording you uploaded. Captions cover the spoken parts, since music and singing are not transcribed.
