How long does a 75-minute service take to transcribe?
Around 2.5 minutes, at about 2 minutes per hour of audio. A 90-minute festival service takes about 3, so a volunteer can upload from the sacristy laptop and send the text to the newsletter editor before leaving the building.
Are the hymns transcribed?
No. Music, the organ and congregational singing are not transcribed; the spoken parts are. The sermon, prayers, readings and notices come through, and the hymns leave gaps in the text. The spoken parts keep their timestamps, so the order of service is easy to follow when you read the transcript later.
What do a quarter and a year of services cost?
Thirteen 75-minute services, 975 minutes, fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes, and fifty-two of them, 3,900 minutes, fit the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes. For a handful of special services, six fit the $6 pack of 500 minutes. Credits never expire.
Some services are bilingual, Finnish and Swedish. What happens?
The recording is detected on its main language, and English words in the speech are handled. Where a service alternates long Finnish and Swedish sections, uploading the Swedish part as its own file gives it its own transcript.
Our camera file is large. Will it upload?
Files may be up to 10 hours or 5 GB, and up to 2 GB before a first pack. A 75-minute video at 5 Mbps is about 2.8 GB (5,000,000 bits a second times 4,500 seconds, divided by 8), so it starts once a pack is on the account; a YouTube link avoids the upload.
Which exports are there, and is it private?
Each service can be saved as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, so prayers read aloud stay with the parish.
