Multi-day events · keynotes and breakouts · ~2 min per hour

Transcribe recordings from a convention centre every room, every day.

A convention centre recording, such as a 90-minute keynote or a breakout room captured for 6 hours straight, is transcribed at about 2 minutes per audio hour, so the 6-hour room takes around 12 minutes. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire.

How the event gets recorded

The AV crew records every room. After the event, those files are the only full record of what was said.

Room files from the AV team

Breakout rooms are usually captured from the room mixer to a recorder or a camera, often as one long file per room per day. Ask the AV team for the audio or a compressed video; the files often arrive on a drive or through a transfer service. This box takes up to 500 MB; anything bigger continues on the upload page.

Keynotes already online

Main-stage sessions are often streamed. If the replay sits on YouTube or Vimeo, paste the link and it is fetched for you. A stream recording longer than 6 hours starts once a pack is on the account.

The whole event in minutes

A single 90-minute keynote is well inside the $4 pack of 300.

Chapters inside each room

A room-day holds back-to-back sessions. The chapters break it at each new speaker and topic with timestamps, and the speakers are named in the summary and chapters, so you can cut one long file into talks.

What happens to event recordings

The event ends on Thursday. The recordings are still unedited in March.

  • Sponsors asking what was said on stage

✓ Text for every room

FAQ

Convention centre recordings, the common questions.

How long does a full room-day take?

About 2 minutes per hour of audio, so a 6-hour room recording is ready in around 12 minutes. A 90-minute keynote takes about 3.

What does a three-day event cost?

Four rooms at 6 hours for three days is 4,320 minutes on the $32 pack of 6,000. A single-day event with two rooms is 720 minutes on the $18 pack of 3,000.

A room ran longer than 10 hours. What then?

Upload it as two files, split at a break. Each file can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB, with or without a pack. An audio-only export of a full room-day is usually a fraction of the video's size.

Can we split the room file into talks?

The chapters mark each session with timestamps, which tells your editor where to cut. The transcript itself is one document per file.

The Q&A microphone was weak. Will questions come through?

Questions picked up by a handheld or a roaming microphone come through. Questions shouted from the floor with no microphone are often faint and may be partly missed.

Where is the audio processed?

Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. Teams recording every week can look at the $19 monthly Workspace; a one-off event needs only a pack.
