Transcribe the lecture recordings for your Coursera course your studio sessions, turned into readings and notes.
An instructor's 4-week Coursera course with 20 hours of lecture recordings is transcribed in about 40 minutes once the files are uploaded, and the first 20 minutes are free. Those 1,200 minutes fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes; WhipScribe has no connection to Coursera and works from the recordings you or your course team hold.
For the people who teach the course
The lectures took weeks to record. The transcript takes minutes and feeds everything around them.
The files to start from
Coursera lectures are usually recorded in a university studio or at home and edited by a course team before publishing. Ask the team for the final lecture exports, often MP4, or use the raw session recordings you kept. This page is not about video downloaded from a live course page.
Long studio sessions
A 90-minute studio session with several takes uploads as one file; the per-file limit is 10 hours or 5 GB. Before your first pack, files up to 2 GB go through, and bigger ones start once a pack is on the account. A session your team shared on Google Drive can be pasted as a link.
A course or a specialization, priced
A single 90-minute session is 90 minutes on the $6 pack of 500. A 4-week course with 5 hours of video a week is 1,200 minutes on the $12 pack of 2,000. A 4-course specialization of 80 hours, 4,800 minutes, needs the $24 pack of 5,000.
What you make from it
Each recording returns with a brief of the thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps, and the names, numbers and dates you said. Draft readings from the DOCX, check slides against what you actually said, and ask the chat for the questions a lecture answers to start a quiz bank.

FAQ
Coursera lecture recordings: instructors' questions.
How long does a full course take to transcribe?
Around 2 minutes per hour of audio, so 20 hours of lectures take about 40 minutes. A single 90-minute session is ready in about 3.
What will a course cost?
Someone uploading for the first time pays nothing for the opening 20 minutes. One 90-minute session is 90 minutes on the $6 pack of 500 minutes; a 20-hour course, 1,200 minutes, fits the $12 pack of 2,000; an 80-hour specialization needs the $24 pack of 5,000. You pay once per pack, and unused minutes stay on the account.
Who owns the recordings?
That depends on the agreement between you, your institution and the course partner. Check with your course team before uploading recordings that the institution holds.
Can I upload a lecture from the live course page?
No. This page is about recordings you or your team already hold. WhipScribe has no connection to Coursera and does not fetch from it; upload the file, or paste a Google Drive, Vimeo or YouTube link to your own copy.
I recorded some lectures in French. Do I need to set the language?
No. The language is detected automatically, from 99, and a lecture that switches language is detected on its main one.
Which exports come back, and is the recording private?
Each recording exports to TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON. Lecture audio is processed on our own servers, never feeds model training, and can be deleted with its transcript at any time.
