Transcribe a long DJI Osmo Action recording chapter by chapter, or joined.
A 4-hour event filmed on a DJI Osmo Action camera comes back as text in about 8 minutes, whether you upload each MP4 chapter the camera wrote or one joined file of up to 10 hours or 5 GB. The first 20 minutes are free, and the 240 minutes fit the $6 pack of 500 minutes.
From the action camera to the text
An action camera on a long day writes many files. The words in them read as one day.
Finding the chapters
The Osmo Action records MP4 to its microSD card, usually inside a DJI folder under DCIM, and splits a long recording into several chapter files numbered in order. Copy the MP4s to a computer with a card reader or the USB cable; the LRF preview files can stay behind.
Upload each chapter
Each chapter goes up as its own file and returns as its own transcript, so a 4-hour day may become several documents. That is often the clearest way to work: one chapter per stretch of the event, each with timestamps from its own start.
Or one file for the day
Join the chapters in a video editor and export only the audio. An MP3 at 128 kbps is about 58 MB an hour, so four hours is roughly 230 MB, well under the 2 GB that uploads before a pack and inside the 10-hour limit.
Wind, engines and voices
Wind noise, engines and music are not transcribed; speech is. A camera mounted on a helmet or chest hears its wearer best. A briefing, a guided tour or a race-day commentary comes back with a brief, chapters and the names and numbers said.
Action footage elsewhere
An all-day recording in chapters is hard work in most transcription tools.
✗ What usually goes wrong
The footage is fine. The tool does not want it.
- OpenAI's Whisper API stopping at 25 MB
- Free minutes gone in the first chapter
- Chapters near 4 GB refused outright
- Wind noise mistaken for words
- Timestamps lost when files are glued
- A day of footage nobody rewatches
✓ Here
Every chapter, or one audio file, becomes text.
- Chapters up to 5 GB each
- A full day read in about 8 minutes
- Speech kept, wind and engines left out
- Chapters with timestamps per stretch
- A free first 20 minutes of footage
- The 240 minutes fit the $6 pack

This sample is illustrative and was written for this page, not taken from a real tour. Roles stand in for names, and the timestamps show a 4-hour day.

FAQ
DJI Osmo Action recordings, the common questions.
How long does a 4-hour Osmo Action recording take?
About 8 minutes, because processing takes about 2 minutes per hour of audio. If you upload four one-hour chapters, each takes about 2.
What does a 4-hour event cost?
A first visit brings 20 minutes free. The 240 minutes fit the $6 pack of 500 minutes and leave at least 260. Eight such days, 1,920 minutes, fit the $12 pack of 2,000.
My chapter file is over 2 GB. Will it upload?
Yes, once a pack is on the account; before that, files up to 2 GB upload. Every file can be up to 5 GB. Exporting the audio alone keeps it much smaller.
Do I have to join the chapters?
No. Upload them one by one if separate transcripts suit you. Join them, as audio, only if you want one timeline for the whole day, and keep it to 10 hours or less.
Can a tour in another language be read?
99, detected automatically from the speech. A guide who changes language mid-tour is transcribed on the main language of the recording.
Which files do I get, and is my footage kept private?
Every chapter can download as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON. Uploads are transcribed on our own servers and never used to train models, and you can delete any recording with its transcript.
