Tiny wireless mics · camera or phone file · 160 min in about 5 min

Transcribe long interviews recorded with a DJI Mic Mini from the camera or phone that captured them.

A DJI Mic Mini sends its sound to a receiver on your camera or phone, so the interview lives in that device's recording, and once you upload it or paste a Google Drive link, 160 minutes come back as text in about 5 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, and the 160 minutes fit the $6 pack of 500 minutes with 340 left.

Follow the receiver

The Mic Mini is a link to the camera or phone. Whatever it plugged into holds the recording.

Find where the sound went

The receiver feeds a camera, a phone or a computer, and that device does the recording: usually an MP4 or MOV on a camera's card, a video in the phone's gallery, or an audio file from a recording app. Check the setup you used on the day, then upload that file on upload page.

Long camera files get heavy

A 160-minute interview filmed in 4K can run well past 5 GB. Export the audio alone, as an MP3 of about 154 MB at 128 kbps, or a 1080p copy. Before your first pack, a file can be up to 2 GB; after it, up to 5 GB or 10 hours.

Skip the upload with a link

When the video is already in Google Drive with link sharing on, paste the link instead of uploading from the phone. A published YouTube or Vimeo interview works the same way. The transcript is identical whichever route the recording takes.

Built for long talks

Small clip-on mics are made for walking interviews, vlogs and conversations that run on. The interview returns with a brief, chapters with timestamps, every name, number and date said, and key quotes with both people named, ready for the cut.

Clip-on mic interviews elsewhere

The mics are tiny. The camera file they end up in is not.

✗ What gets in the way

A clear voice inside a very large video.

  • 4K files far past any upload box
  • The Whisper API's 25 MB ceiling
  • Phone uploads failing halfway
  • Interviews trimmed to fit a free tier
  • Quotes timed by scrubbing the clip
  • Notes typed during the conversation

✓ File or link

The interview as one document.

  • Audio exports of a few hundred MB
  • Drive and YouTube links accepted
  • About 5 minutes for 160 minutes
  • Chapters that match the video
  • Quotes with timestamps
  • SRT for subtitles

FAQ

DJI Mic Mini recordings, the common questions.

How long does a 160-minute interview take?

About 5 minutes; each hour of sound takes around 2. Video resolution does not change it.

How much do a dozen long Mic Mini interviews cost?

On a first visit the first 20 minutes are free, and a longer interview shows a preview. One 160-minute interview uses 160 minutes of the $6 pack of 500 minutes, so three fit with 20 to spare. Twelve, 1,920 minutes, fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes.

Does the Mic Mini keep its own recording?

The Mic Mini is generally used as a live link: the transmitters send sound to the receiver, and the camera, phone or computer it plugs into records it. Check DJI's documentation for your kit; if a file does exist on the receiver's device, that is the one to send.

Two transmitters were on. Will both voices be in the file?

If the receiver was set to send both to the camera or phone, both are in that recording. Listen to a minute before uploading to make sure the guest is audible.

Can the interview be in a language other than English?

Yes. 99 languages are detected automatically, and English mixed with Tagalog in one conversation is handled.

Is there a DJI integration, and who sees the video?

No; WhipScribe has no integration with DJI hardware or apps. You upload the file or paste the link. The interview is transcribed on our own servers and is never used for training. Save it as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON.
