Transcribe a service recorded at a funeral home the eulogies, written down to keep.

A funeral or memorial service of about an hour comes back as text in roughly 2 minutes, with every eulogy, reading and tribute kept and the music left out. The first 20 minutes are free, and a $6 pack of 500 minutes covers the remaining 40 with 460 minutes left.

How services are recorded

Many funeral homes record or stream the chapel. Families often ask for the words afterwards.

The chapel feed or a phone

A chapel with a sound system can usually record straight from the lectern microphone, and that feed is the clearest source. When the service was streamed for family abroad, the replay holds the same audio. A phone recording from a pew also works; quiet voices simply come through a little softer.

What the text holds

The officiant's words, each eulogy, the readings, the poems read aloud and the closing words come back in order. Music played at the entrance, the hymns and the committal song are not transcribed. Chapters with timestamps mark where each tribute begins, and the people who spoke are named in the summary when introduced.

Links or files

A replay on YouTube or Vimeo can be pasted as a link, and so can a Google Drive share link the funeral home sent. A recording on another streaming service is downloaded first, then uploaded. The box here takes files up to 500 MB; a larger video continues on upload page.

For a family or for the home

A family with one hour-long service needs the free 20 minutes and 40 from a $6 pack. A funeral home offering transcripts for 15 services a month at about 50 minutes each uses 750 minutes, which the $12 pack of 2,000 covers with 1,250 left for the next month.

Why the words slip away

People ask for the eulogy afterwards. Usually nobody wrote it down in full.

✗ Hoping someone has notes

Speakers lose their notes, ad-lib the best parts and cannot remember them a week later.

  • A speaker's notes that differ from what was said
  • A family member typing from the video
  • Stream replays that expire
  • Captions that mangle names
  • No way to find one tribute in the hour
  • Paying monthly for a single service

✓ Every tribute on paper

The whole service returns as text that can be printed, shared with relatives or kept with the photographs.

  • Each eulogy exactly as spoken
  • Chapters that mark every speaker's turn
  • Names and dates said in the service gathered in the brief
  • DOCX ready for a memorial booklet
  • Captions for the service video
  • Deleted from your Library whenever you choose

FAQ

Funeral home recordings, answered.

How quickly does a service come back?

About 2 minutes per hour of audio, so a 45-minute service is ready in about a minute and a half and a 75-minute one in under 3. The text stays in your Library, so you can come back to it later.

What will it cost the family?

A first visit transcribes the opening 20 minutes free. A longer service is previewed, and a $6 pack of 500 minutes transcribes the rest from where the preview ended. Packs are paid once, and leftover minutes stay on the account with no expiry.

The livestream was on a funeral home page, not YouTube.

Links work for YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, Twitch, Kick and podcast feeds. For another player, ask the funeral home for the file, or download it if the page allows, then upload it here.

How large can the video be?

Up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file. A first upload up to 2 GB starts straight away; a larger one starts once a pack is on the account. A service video is rarely near those limits.

The service was in two languages.

Each file is transcribed on its main language, chosen automatically from 99. A tribute given entirely in another language can be cut out and uploaded on its own so it comes back in that language.

Is the recording kept private?

Yes. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. Share the text only with those the family chooses, and delete the recording once the booklet is made.
