Transcribe a Google Meet live stream straight from the Drive link.
A Google Meet live stream that was recorded to Drive transcribes from its Drive share link or an upload, and a 3-hour stream comes back as text in about 6 minutes at roughly 2 minutes per audio hour. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire.
View-only stream, recorded to Drive
Hundreds watched the stream. The recording is already in Drive, so start there.
Where Meet puts the recording
When a Meet live stream is recorded, the file usually lands in the organiser's Drive, often in a folder named Meet Recordings, and it is usually an MP4. Availability of live streaming and recording depends on your Google Workspace edition and admin settings, so the exact place can vary.
Paste the link, skip the download
Google Drive share links and folders are sources WhipScribe fetches directly. Set the file to anyone with the link, paste it, and the stream is fetched for you. A link restricted to your organisation will not open from outside it; then download the file and upload it instead: up to 500 MB in the box here, larger on the main upload page.
Long streams, priced
A 3-hour stream is 180 minutes, which fits the $4 pack of 300. Credits never expire, so the pack carries across terms or seasons.
What the audience team receives
A brief with the thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps that follow the running order, and the names, numbers and dates said on stream. Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters. The questions the stream answered come back as a list for an FAQ page.
After the stream ends
A view-only audience cannot ask you to repeat yourself. Give them the text.
✗ A recording in someone's Drive
The stream is over and the only copy is a long MP4 nobody has time to rewatch.
- Viewers who missed it sent a three-hour link
- Announcements repeated in follow-up emails
- No captions for viewers who read faster
- Hard to find the minute a decision was given
- Recaps that depend on one person's notes
- Last term's streams impossible to search
✓ The stream as text and chapters
Paste the Drive link and the written version is ready before lunch.
- About 6 minutes for a 3-hour stream
- Presenters named in the summary and key quotes
- Chapters matching each segment of the agenda
- Dates and figures listed for the recap
- SRT and VTT for the replay
- A Drive folder of past streams in one go

FAQ
Google Meet live streams, answered.
Can I paste the Drive link to the recording?
Yes, when the file is shared as anyone with the link. WhipScribe fetches Google Drive share links and folders. If your domain only allows internal sharing, download the MP4 and upload it instead.
Does WhipScribe join the Meet stream?
No. No bot joins a live call or stream and there is no Meet integration. WhipScribe works on the recording afterwards, from its Drive link or an uploaded file.
How long can the stream be?
One file can run up to 10 hours or 5 GB. Uploads up to 5 GB go through before the first pack, and a bigger file can be split into parts. A stream longer than 10 hours goes up as two files.
How much does a long stream cost?
A 3-hour stream fits the $4 pack of 300.
Is the audience chat in the transcript?
No. The transcript is the speech in the recording. A question typed by a viewer appears only if a presenter reads it aloud on the stream.
Which languages and exports?
99 languages are detected automatically, including a stream given in French or Hindi with English terms in it. Exports are TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
