HeySummit · talk by talk · about 90 s per 45-min talk

Transcribe a HeySummit virtual summit every talk, one by one.

Each HeySummit talk is transcribed at about 2 minutes per audio hour, so a 45-minute talk is text in about 90 seconds, whether you upload the file or paste the replay's YouTube or Vimeo link. A 25-talk summit of 45 minutes each is 1,125 minutes, which the $12 pack of 2,000 covers after the first 20 minutes free.

A summit is a stack of long recordings

Twenty-five speakers gave away their best material. It deserves better than a replay page.

Where the talks live

HeySummit organises talks and often plays them from a video host or a meeting tool chosen by the organiser. If a replay sits on YouTube or Vimeo, paste that link. If the organiser kept the original files, they are usually MP4 recordings; upload them one talk at a time.

Minutes per talk

At about 2 minutes per audio hour, a 30-minute talk comes back in about a minute and a 60-minute keynote in about 2. A whole summit runs talk by talk, so the first ones are readable while later ones are still uploading.

The summit's arithmetic

Twenty-five talks of 45 minutes are 1,125 minutes, on the $12 pack of 2,000. A bigger event of sixty talks at 45 minutes reaches 2,700 minutes, which the $24 pack of 5,000 covers with room for next year's edition.

Show notes for every speaker

Each talk gets a brief with its thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps, and the names, books and figures the speaker mentioned. The questions from the live Q&A are listed, and captions export as SRT for the replay. Files over 2 GB go via the upload page once a pack is on the account.

When the summit ends

All-access passes sold on replays. Afterwards the talks sit behind a login, unsearched.

✗ A wall of replays

The summit's content is locked inside hours of video.

  • Talks with no captions for the replay
  • Show notes written by hand for each speaker
  • Quotes for promotion found by scrubbing
  • Attendee questions lost after the live slot
  • Tools that cap uploads at 25 MB
  • Speakers asking for their transcript in vain

✓ A summit library

Every talk becomes notes, captions and quotable lines.

  • About 90 seconds per 45-minute talk
  • Twenty-five talks on the $12 pack
  • Chapters inside each talk
  • Books, tools and names mentioned, collected
  • Each speaker named in the talk's brief
  • SRT captions for every replay

00:38:52 So if you take one thing from this session, it is to measure retention before you spend on acquisition.
00:39:15 Most founders I work with do it the other way around and then wonder why growth leaks.
00:40:02 A question from the chat: what's a sensible first retention metric for a small team?
00:40:18 Start with the share of people who come back in their second week. It's simple, and it's honest.

FAQ

HeySummit recordings, answered.

Can I paste a HeySummit talk link?

Paste the link of the video itself when it sits on YouTube, Vimeo or Google Drive. A HeySummit page link is not fetched directly. If only the organiser holds the files, download them and upload each talk. There is no HeySummit integration.

How long does a whole summit take?

Each talk runs at about 2 minutes per audio hour. Twenty-five 45-minute talks add up to about 38 minutes of processing in total, and you can read each talk as soon as it finishes.

What does a summit cost?

Twenty-five 45-minute talks, 1,125 minutes, fit the $12 pack of 2,000. A small 8-talk mini-summit of 45 minutes each is 360 minutes, on the $6 pack of 500. Packs are bought once and never expire.

Can speakers get their own transcript?

Yes. Export each talk as DOCX or TXT and send it to its speaker, or as SRT for their own replay. Speakers are named in the summary and key quotes, which helps when panels have several voices. Recording talks needs the consent the law where you are requires.

What are the file limits?

Every talk file may be up to 10 hours or 5 GB. A first-time account uploads up to 2 GB without a pack; bigger files start when one is on the account. A YouTube replay link needs no upload at all.

Multilingual summits, exports and privacy?

99 languages are detected automatically, so an international summit with talks in Spanish and Portuguese needs no settings. Each talk exports as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON. Talks are transcribed on our own servers and never used for model training.
