Nearpod · original file or link · about 2 min per hour

Transcribe a recorded Nearpod lesson from the video you started with.

To transcribe a recorded lesson you share through Nearpod, upload the original video, usually an MP4 you exported or recorded yourself, or paste its YouTube or Drive link; a three-hour recorded training session is ready in about 6 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, and 180 minutes uses part of the $6 pack of 500 minutes. WhipScribe has no Nearpod integration and does not open lessons inside it.

From Nearpod lesson to text

Nearpod shows the lesson to students. The transcript keeps its words for everyone after.

Start from the source video

A Nearpod lesson usually wraps videos the teacher recorded, uploaded or linked. Where your account lets you download or export a video, use that file; otherwise go back to the original, which is often an MP4 on your computer or in a cloud folder. Check the options in your own account rather than assuming an export exists.

Videos linked from YouTube or Drive

If the video in the lesson came from YouTube, Vimeo or a Google Drive share link, paste that address here and it is fetched directly. A Drive folder holding a whole unit can be pasted once, and each video comes back as its own transcript. A link that asks for a sign-in will not open, so download that video and upload it instead.

What a PD series costs

Six recorded professional-development sessions of three hours each total 1,080 minutes, on the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes with 920 left. One three-hour session uses 180 of the 500 minutes in the $6 pack. You buy a pack once; nothing renews.

Upload once per recording

Put the video on upload page and it returns as a single transcript, with timestamps that line up with the recording, so a quote in a slide note points to the right minute. Colleagues who missed the session can read it in a fraction of the time it takes to watch.

Where Nearpod recordings stall

Students see the lesson once. The words behind it deserve a written copy.

✗ No transcript yet

A three-hour recording is hard to reuse when nobody can search it.

  • Re-watching a training session to find one tip
  • Students absent on the day with no notes
  • A 25 MB limit on the Whisper API, small beside a three-hour video
  • Trimming the recording into parts for short tools
  • A separate timeline in every part
  • Dates for the next session mentioned and lost

✓ Transcript in hand

The whole recording as text, time-coded to the video.

  • One upload or link per video
  • Chapters for each activity
  • Names, numbers and dates, listed
  • The questions the training answers
  • A chat to locate any strategy mentioned
  • SRT or VTT to caption the lesson video

Sample

A three-hour recorded training session, later used in a Nearpod lesson.

A sample invented for this page, not a real session. Timestamps fall inside a three-hour video.

00:03:05 We are recording today so teachers at the other campus can work through it later.
00:52:30 The first strategy is the simplest: ask every student to write before anyone speaks.
01:41:18 Here is how the same activity looks with a class of thirty-five.
02:20:47 Pause the video and draft one question you would ask your own students.
02:57:10 The next session is in two weeks, and we will share results then.

FAQ

Nearpod recordings, answered.

How long does a three-hour recorded session take?

About 6 minutes, because each hour of audio takes roughly 2. A 45-minute lesson video is back in under 2 minutes.

Can WhipScribe open my Nearpod lesson?

No. It cannot sign in to Nearpod or read lessons there. Upload the video file, or paste its YouTube, Vimeo or Drive link.

What does a PD series of recordings cost?

Six three-hour sessions, 1,080 minutes, sit on the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. A single three-hour session fits the $6 pack of 500 minutes. A first visit has the first 20 minutes free, and a pack picks up the rest of the recording after the preview. Prices are in US dollars, paid once.

Are student responses in the lesson transcribed?

No. Polls, drawings and written answers collected in Nearpod are not audio. Only the speech in the video comes back as text.

What if the recording is over 2 GB?

Before your first pack, uploads stop at 2 GB, and a heavier file starts once a pack is on the account. Every file can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB.

Which exports and languages, and is the recording private?

Exports are TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON, and 99 languages are detected automatically. Every presenter is named in the summary, key quotes and chapters. Your recording is transcribed on our own servers and never goes into training data.
