Transcribe long laptop recordings made with a Shure MV7+ workshops, sessions and dictation, uploaded whole.
A 3.5-hour workshop recorded on a laptop through a Shure MV7+ comes back as text in about 7 minutes once you upload the file your recording program saved. The first 20 minutes are free on a first visit, the 210 minutes fit the $6 pack of 500, and a file may run to 10 hours or 5 GB.
From the laptop to the transcript
A long recording on a laptop has two jobs: finish without a gap, then become a file we can read.
Keep the laptop awake
Hours of recording fail most often because the laptop sleeps, a battery runs low or the disk fills. Plug in power, turn off sleep for the session, and leave a few gigabytes free. The MV7+ itself keeps no copy, so the recording program is the only place the session exists.
Find the file the program made
Shure's app adjusts the microphone, and the program you record in writes the audio. In an audio editor, export the session; a podcast or meeting app usually saves into its own folder. The result is usually a WAV, MP3 or M4A, so check the export settings before a long session rather than after.
How big 3.5 hours gets
A mono 24-bit WAV at 48 kHz is about 518 MB an hour, so 3.5 hours is roughly 1.8 GB and uploads before any pack. Recorded in stereo the same session is about 3.6 GB and starts once a pack is on the account, while a 128 kbps MP3 is around 200 MB.
What the workshop gives back
Each session returns with a brief of the thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps for each exercise or topic, and the questions the workshop answered. The chat over the transcript finds the minute an example was explained, so you can cut it into a short lesson.
Long laptop recordings elsewhere
The MV7+ sounds good for hours. Most transcription tools stop listening long before that.

FAQ
Shure MV7+ recordings, the common questions.
How long does a 3.5-hour MV7+ recording take?
About 7 minutes, at roughly 2 minutes for every hour of sound. A one-hour dictation session takes about 2.
What does a year of monthly workshops cost?
Twelve workshops of 3.5 hours are 2,520 minutes, past the $12 pack, so they fit the $24 pack of 5,000 with 2,480 to spare. A single session uses the $6 pack of 500, and the first 20 minutes on a first visit are free.
My laptop saved a huge WAV. Will it upload?
Files up to 5 GB or 10 hours are accepted, and up to 2 GB before your first pack. If a stereo WAV is over 2 GB, export it as MP3 or mono; the transcript is the same.
Should I split a long session?
Only past 10 hours. Keeping one file means one set of timestamps that match the recording you keep.
Which languages can I record in?
99, detected automatically, with nothing to set first. Japanese or Korean speech with English terms in it is handled.
What do I download, and who can hear the workshop?
An MV7+ session returns TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Your session is transcribed on our own servers and is never used for training. Nothing links to the MV7+ or its app; you upload the file.
