Download from the video's settings
SproutVideo accounts can usually download a hosted video from its settings or options in the dashboard, often in more than one resolution, depending on your plan and permissions. Any of them carries the same speech, so the smaller one uploads faster. If the original source file is still on your drive, that works too.
Watch the size on long workshops
Four hours at 1080p and 4 Mbps is about 7.2 GB, which is over the 5 GB allowed per file. A 720p download at 2.5 Mbps comes to about 4.5 GB and fits, and an audio-only export is far smaller. The box here takes 500 MB; bigger files continue on the main upload page.
Captions for the player
The SRT and VTT exports are standard caption files. Check the video's subtitle or caption settings in SproutVideo for where to add them; the same files work in any other player or editor. The transcript itself becomes a text version of the video for viewers who would rather read.

How long does a 4-hour video take?
About 8 minutes, since each audio hour takes close to 2. A 45-minute onboarding video is usually done in under 2.
Can I paste a SproutVideo link?
Hosted SproutVideo pages are not one of the link sources, so download the video and upload it. If the same video is also on YouTube or Vimeo, or in a shared Google Drive folder, paste that link instead.
Does WhipScribe connect to SproutVideo?
No. There is no integration and no access to your account. You decide which files to send, and the transcripts stay in your WhipScribe account until you delete them.
What if the workshop runs past 10 hours?
Each file can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB, so a full-day event of eleven hours goes in as two files. Before the first pack, files over 2 GB wait until a pack is on the account.
