Sync.com shared folder · download, then upload

Transcribe a shared folder of long recordings from Sync.com one file at a time, the whole folder in an afternoon.

To transcribe long recordings from a Sync.com shared folder, download each recording to your device and upload it here, because Sync.com links are not fetched directly; a 2.5-hour session is text in about 5 minutes. Fifteen sessions of that length are 2,250 minutes, more than the $12 pack holds, so the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes covers the folder.

From a shared folder to a stack of transcripts

The team shared every session. Now each one has a brief.

Downloading from a shared folder

A Sync.com share link or team folder opens in the browser, and each recording there has a download option; Sync.com decrypts it on your side as it downloads. If you use the Sync desktop app, the shared folder usually syncs to your computer and the files are already local. Either way, upload the file, not the link.

One recording, one transcript

Upload the recordings one by one, and each comes back with its own brief, chapters and key quotes. Keeping sessions apart makes it easier to compare them later, and the file name you uploaded stays on the transcript. For a long list, the upload page lets you send the next file while the last one is processing.

Pricing a whole folder

Add up the lengths before you buy. Fifteen recordings averaging two and a half hours are 2,250 minutes, which the $24 pack of 5,000 covers with 2,750 left. A folder of six such sessions is 900 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000. Credits do not expire, so leftover minutes wait for the next folder.

When the folder includes video

A shared folder often mixes audio with long screen recordings. A video is accepted as it is, up to 5 GB or 10 hours, and only its speech is transcribed. Before the first pack, files up to 2 GB go up; a larger video starts once a pack is on the account, or you can extract its audio first.

Where shared folders of recordings end up

Everything was shared. Nobody had time to listen.

  • Hours of audio per session
  • Summaries written by whoever attended
  • No way to search across sessions
  • Large videos refused by short-file tools
  • A subscription bought for one folder

✓ Each file downloaded and uploaded

Every session readable, each with its own brief.

  • About 5 minutes per 2.5-hour file
  • Sessions of up to 10 hours each
  • Chapters for each topic
  • Names, dates and figures per session
  • 2,250 minutes on the $24 pack
  • TXT and DOCX for the shared folder

00:00:58 This is the third workshop in the series. Today we look at what the survey told us.
00:52:21 Most respondents preferred evening sessions, which surprised the planning group.
01:39:44 Could we pilot both times next term and compare attendance?
02:24:07 Let us agree that now and put the comparison on the agenda for the next workshop.

FAQ

Sync.com recordings, answered.

How long does each recording take?

About 2 minutes per hour of audio after the upload, so a 2.5-hour session is ready in about 5 minutes. A 9.31-hour recording on the public proof page took 1,033 seconds.

What does a whole shared folder cost?

Fifteen sessions of 2.5 hours come to 2,250 minutes, above the 2,000 minutes of the $12 pack, so the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes is the one to buy. Packs are one-time purchases. For a team recording every week, the $19 a month Workspace is the alternative.

Can I paste the Sync.com link?

No, Sync.com links are not fetched. Download each file, then upload it. The links that work pasted are YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch, Kick, Google Drive and podcast feeds.

Do I need to join the files first?

No. Each file is its own upload and its own transcript, which is usually what you want for separate sessions. A single recording longer than 10 hours goes in as two files.

Which languages are recognised?

99 languages are detected automatically, Spanish, Korean and Afrikaans among them. A session that moves between two languages is detected on the main one.

What happens to the files we upload?

Every recording from the folder is transcribed on our own servers and never used for training. Download TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON, then delete the recordings and transcripts whenever you choose.
