Transcribe your Teachable course lessons every hour of them, from your own files.
A Teachable creator can turn a whole course into text: a 4-hour module comes back in about 8 minutes, and a 14-hour course of 840 minutes fits on one $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free to try on one lesson. WhipScribe has no Teachable plugin; you upload the lesson files you already have, or paste a YouTube or Vimeo link if that is where a lesson lives.
From lesson video to course text
You recorded the course once. The transcript does several jobs.
Start from your source files
The cleanest copy of each lesson is the export from your editor or screen recorder, before it went up to Teachable. It is usually an MP4; if one refuses to upload, convert it to MP3 first, since only the voice is transcribed.
Captions for every lesson
Each transcript exports as SRT or VTT with timestamps that line up with the lesson. Check your course platform's caption settings for where the file goes; the timing is already done.
Notes, outlines and lead magnets
The brief, the chapters and the list of names and figures give you a lesson summary, a module outline or a downloadable guide without rewatching your own recordings. The chat answers questions like 'where did I explain pricing tiers?' from the text.
Students and their downloads
A student should only transcribe a lesson the creator lets them download. Creators decide that for their own course; WhipScribe works on whatever file reaches it and never logs into a school.
What creators run into
Typing captions for fourteen hours of lessons is a week of work.
✗ Doing it by hand
Captions and notes made lesson by lesson, from memory and replay.
- Rewatching yourself to write notes
- Per-lesson caption typing
- A tool that stops at short clips
- Different spellings of your own terms
- No outline across modules
- Another monthly subscription
✓ Doing it here
Each lesson as text, captions and a summary, in minutes.
- Minutes per lesson, not hours
- SRT and VTT timed to the video
- Chapters for each lesson section
- Terms and figures listed in one place
- Search the whole course by topic
- Minutes that wait for your next course

FAQ
Teachable course lessons, answered.
How long does a 4-hour lesson recording take?
Near 8 minutes, at about 2 minutes for each audio hour. A 20-minute lesson is back in well under a minute.
What does a whole Teachable course cost to transcribe?
Total the lesson minutes. A 14-hour course is 840 minutes and fits the $12 pack of 2,000. A 6-hour course is 360 minutes on the $6 pack of 500. Courses past 2,000 minutes go on the $24 pack of 5,000. The first 20 minutes are free once, for a first-time visitor.
My module export is a big file. Is that a problem?
Each lesson file may run to 10 hours or 5 GB. Before your first pack the ceiling is 2 GB, and a larger file starts once a pack is on the account. Lessons hosted on YouTube or Vimeo can be pasted as links instead.
Should I join lessons into one file or keep them separate?
Keep them as they are. Separate lessons give separate transcripts and caption files that match each video, and nothing needs splitting since one file can run 10 hours.
Can I transcribe lessons in Spanish or Portuguese?
Yes. 99 languages are detected automatically, so a course taught in Portuguese, Spanish or Japanese comes back in that language, and a lesson that slips into English for a term stays on its main language.
Which formats come back, and what happens to my lessons?
Every lesson exports as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Your lesson recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and you can delete any of them at any time.
