Microsoft Teams language interpretation · organiser download

Transcribe a Teams meeting with language interpretation for the minutes in both languages.

A Microsoft Teams meeting held with language interpretation transcribes once the organiser downloads the recording and uploads it here, and a 1-hour meeting comes back as text in about 2 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free; four weekly 1-hour meetings, 240 minutes, fit the $6 pack of 500, and a quarter of thirteen, 780 minutes, fits the $12 pack of 2,000.

Interpretation in Teams

Teams carries the interpreters live. The recording may keep less than you think.

Know what was recorded

With language interpretation turned on, a Teams recording may keep the original speech only, and the interpreted audio may not be in the file at all. This depends on your Teams version and your admin's settings, so make a short test recording and listen before relying on it. Teams recordings usually land in OneDrive or SharePoint as an MP4.

From OneDrive to WhipScribe

Download the MP4 from OneDrive or SharePoint and upload it. Files up to 500 MB go into the box on this page; larger ones continue on the main upload page, still up to 10 hours or 5 GB. If an interpreter recorded their own channel separately, upload that as a second file.

A season of meetings, priced

A weekly 1-hour bilingual staff meeting is 240 minutes a month, inside the $6 pack of 500 with 260 left. Thirteen weeks make 780 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000 with 1,220 to spare. If an interpreted channel is uploaded too, count its minutes on top.

Minutes from the original speech

Base minutes and quotes on the original speech. Each recording returns with a brief carrying the thesis and takeaways, chapters per agenda item, the names, figures and dates said, and the questions answered. Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters.

Bilingual teams, every week

Colleagues followed through the interpreters. The notes still come out in one language.

✗ Notes from one side of the room

A weekly meeting in two languages, minuted by whoever had time.

  • Decisions recorded in only one language
  • Action owners unclear a week later
  • Interpreted phrasing passed off as the speaker's
  • No quick way to find last month's agreement
  • Members who missed it left with nothing to read
  • Minutes that take longer than the meeting

✓ A transcript and a brief

The meeting in text with the decisions already pulled out.

  • About 2 minutes for a 1-hour meeting
  • Speakers named in the summary and key quotes
  • Chapters for every agenda item
  • Dates, owners and amounts listed
  • A chat that finds last month's agreement
  • DOCX ready to circulate as minutes

00:22:14 Let us move to the rota for the holiday weeks, since both offices are affected.
00:22:30 Montréal can cover the first week if Toronto takes the second.
00:22:47 That works for us, as long as the handover happens on the Friday, not the Monday.
00:23:05 Agreed. I will put the dates in the shared calendar today.
00:23:18 One more point: the new starter joins on the fourteenth, in the Toronto office.

FAQ

Teams language interpretation, answered.

Does WhipScribe connect to Teams?

No. There is no Teams integration and no bot joins the meeting. The organiser downloads the recording from OneDrive or SharePoint and uploads it here.

Will the interpreters' audio be transcribed?

Only if it is in the file you upload. Check a test recording first; if your Teams recording keeps the original speech alone, that is what is transcribed. An interpreter's own recording of their channel can go up as a separate file.

Our meeting switches between French and English. What happens?

The recording is detected on its main language, and English terms inside French speech are handled. If the meeting is evenly split and you need both languages in clean text, a separate recording of an interpreted channel helps.

How long and how large can a file be?

Up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file. Before the first pack, uploads up to 2 GB go through; a larger file starts once a pack is on the account. A weekly 1-hour meeting is nowhere near either limit.

What does a first meeting cost?

A first-time visitor gets the first 20 minutes free: a short meeting transcribes in full, and a longer one is previewed, with a pack from $6 transcribing the rest from where the preview ended.

Consent, languages and privacy?

Recording a meeting needs the consent the law where you are requires. 99 languages are detected automatically, exports are TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON, and recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
