Screen recordings · MP4 download · about 2 min per audio hour

Transcribe long screen recordings made in Tella from the MP4 you download.

Tella records your screen and camera in the browser, and a finished recording can be downloaded as an MP4, the file you upload here, up to 10 hours or 5 GB. A 2.5-hour course session is text in about 5 minutes, with the first 20 minutes free and the remaining 130 on the $6 pack of 500 minutes.

Tella to text

Tella stitches your clips into one video. Download it once and the whole thing is transcribed together.

Download the MP4

Open the recording in Tella and look for the download or export option; the file it gives you is usually an MP4. Check the export settings for resolution, since a lower one makes a smaller file with the same sound.

Clips become chapters

A recording built from many clips plays as one video, even when you recorded it over several days. The transcript follows it end to end, and chapters land where your topics change, which often lines up with your clip breaks.

A course of modules

Twelve 50-minute modules come to 600 minutes, more than the $6 pack holds, so they go on the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes with 1,400 to spare for the next course.

Lesson notes from the brief

Each module comes back with a brief of its thesis and takeaways, the terms and numbers you said, and the questions it answers, which is most of a lesson page already written. Ask the chat over the transcript for a quiz or a recap and it answers from what you actually said.

Long screen recordings

A course recorded in Tella can be finished on screen and still missing everything written.

✗ Without text

The video ships, the notes wait.

  • Lesson notes written after recording
  • Captions left for later, then skipped
  • OpenAI's Whisper API halting at 25 MB
  • Students asking where a topic was covered
  • Rewatching a module to write its summary
  • Long sessions trimmed to fit a tool

✓ With text

One upload per module.

  • Five minutes or so for 2.5 hours
  • Chapters students can jump to
  • Terms and figures listed per module
  • SRT and VTT for the course player
  • A whole course on the $12 pack
  • Opening 20 minutes free

FAQ

Tella recordings: questions creators ask.

Does WhipScribe connect to my Tella account?

No. You download the recording from Tella and upload the MP4; nothing is linked, and WhipScribe never sees your Tella workspace. If a recording is still being edited, wait for the final version so the timestamps match what students will watch.

How fast is a long recording done?

A 2.5-hour session takes about 5 minutes, at roughly 2 minutes per audio hour. The proof page shows a 4.94-hour run finished in 372 seconds.

What does a course cost?

Someone new to WhipScribe gets 20 minutes free. A single 2.5-hour session is 150 minutes on the $6 pack of 500 minutes; twelve 50-minute modules need the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. Nothing renews, and unused credits never expire.

My download is larger than 2 GB.

Files over 2 GB start once a pack is on the account, up to 5 GB and 10 hours. Exporting at a lower resolution, or sending just the audio, keeps the file small without changing the words. At 128 kbps, an MP3 of a 2.5-hour session is about 144 MB.

Can I record in another language?

Yes, with no setting to change. Ninety-nine languages are detected automatically, and a recording that leans on English product terms inside another language is read on its main language.

Which files come back, and is my recording private?

Every format: TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Recordings downloaded from Tella are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
