Transcribe Thinkific live lesson recordings the live session, ready to read after class.
A Thinkific live lesson is transcribed from its recording: save the replay from wherever your live session was recorded and upload it, and a 90-minute lesson is back in about 3 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, one lesson fits the $6 pack of 500 minutes, and a 12-week cohort of 1,080 minutes fits the $12 pack of 2,000.
After the live session
The live lesson happened once. The transcript lets every student revisit it.
Find the recording first
Live lessons run through the meeting tool your course is set up with, and the replay is saved wherever that tool keeps recordings, or as a video you added to the lesson afterwards. Check your live lesson settings or the meeting tool's recordings page, then save the file, usually an MP4, to your computer.
A cohort, worked out
A weekly 90-minute live lesson over 12 weeks is 1,080 minutes, which sits on the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes with 920 left for bonus sessions. One 3-hour intensive uses 180 of the 500 minutes in the $6 pack.
Questions turned into lesson notes
Live sessions are where students ask the real questions. The brief lists the questions each lesson answers, the chapters mark where each one starts, and the names, numbers and dates said are pulled into one list. Post them under the replay as the lesson's written notes.
Captions on the replay
SRT and VTT exports are timed to the file you uploaded, so they line up with the replay if you post that same file to the lesson. Add them using your course platform's caption settings; upload page only reads the file and changes nothing in your school.

FAQ
Thinkific live lessons, answered.
Where is my live lesson recording?
It depends on how your live lessons are set up: usually in the recordings area of the meeting tool you run them on, or as a video you attached to the lesson. Save that file and upload it; if the replay is on YouTube or Vimeo, paste the link. A live lesson that ran over time is no problem: one file may run up to 10 hours, and a recording above 2 GB starts once a pack is on the account.
How long does it take?
About 2 minutes per hour of audio, so a 90-minute lesson takes around 3 minutes and a 3-hour intensive around 6. If a session was recorded in two parts because the meeting dropped, upload both; each comes back with its own chapters and timestamps.
What does a cohort cost?
Twelve weekly 90-minute lessons, 1,080 minutes, fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. A single lesson fits the $6 pack of 500. The first 20 minutes are free on a first visit. Credits stay on your account with no expiry date, so a cohort that pauses for a month loses nothing.
Does WhipScribe connect to Thinkific?
No. There is no Thinkific integration and nothing joins your live sessions. You upload the recording after the lesson; your course and its settings stay as they were.
Can students be named?
People who speak are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters. If students would rather not appear in shared notes, edit the exported DOCX before you post it.
Which languages, exports and privacy?
Any of 99 languages, detected automatically. Exports are TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Live lessons are transcribed on our own servers and never used for training.
