Transcribe long talks from a Zoom M2 MicTrak the recorder in the speaker's hand.
A 2.5-hour talk recorded on a Zoom M2 MicTrak is text in about 5 minutes once its WAV is uploaded, and the file can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB. The first 20 minutes are free, the talk uses 150 minutes of the $6 pack of 500, and a 6-hour day of talks is 360 minutes on the same pack.
Hand-held, then uploaded
The M2 records right where the speaker talks. That makes the voice clear and the file large.
Getting the file off
The M2 MicTrak records to a microSD card. Plug it into a computer by USB or move the card to a reader and copy the take; if a long talk was saved as more than one file, upload them in order or join them in an editor first.
Float sizes for a talk
In stereo at 48 kHz, 32-bit float runs about 1.38 GB an hour, so a 2.5-hour talk is near 3.5 GB and starts once a pack is on the account. If your settings recorded mono, the same talk is about half that, around 1.7 GB, and uploads before any pack.
A series of talks, counted
A day of four 90-minute sessions is 360 minutes, which fits the $6 pack of 500 with 140 left. A lecture series of four such days is 1,440 minutes and moves you to the $12 pack of 2,000.
Notes for people who missed it
Each talk comes back with a brief of the thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps, the names, figures and dates the speaker gave, and the questions the talk answers. The chat finds the moment a speaker cited a source, with the minute.
Recorded talks elsewhere
A handheld recorder captures the whole talk. Getting it read is where things stop.

FAQ
Zoom M2 MicTrak recordings, the common questions.
How long does a 2.5-hour M2 MicTrak talk take?
About 5 minutes. A one-hour talk from the same recorder is ready in roughly 2.
Does the float WAV need converting?
Not if it is under 5 GB. Files up to 2 GB go before a pack; from 2 to 5 GB they start once a pack is on the account. If an upload refuses the file, an MP3 export carries the speech just as well.
What does a series of talks cost?
Four days of 360 minutes each come to 1,440 minutes, on the $12 pack of 2,000. One talk fits the $6 pack, and the first 20 minutes on a first visit are free.
The audience questions are quiet. Will they come through?
A handheld aimed at the speaker hears the room less well. Questions are usually still transcribed if they are audible on playback; repeating each question into the mic before answering keeps them clear.
Does WhipScribe link to the recorder?
No integration exists with the M2 MicTrak or its software. Upload the file, or, if the talk is published on YouTube or Vimeo, paste that link instead.
Languages, exports and privacy?
99 languages, detected automatically, including talks in Portuguese, Hebrew or Tagalog, and a talk that switches language is detected on its main one. Exports are TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. The talk is yours to share or not: recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
