For analysts, reporters and staff

A sitting that ran all day, back as text before the evening news.

Paste the link to the sitting

When the session is on YouTube, including a live replay, or on Vimeo, paste the link and nothing needs downloading. A stream recording over 6 hours starts once a pack is on the account. A video kept only on a chamber's own player can be downloaded and uploaded.

Committees and plenaries alike

A 3-hour comisión and a 9-hour sesión plenaria go through the same way. Chapters follow the items and the turns of the debate, so you can go straight to a minister's answer or a spokesperson's reply.

Cost of a parliamentary week

A 3-hour committee hearing is 180 minutes on the $6 pack of 500. Three plenary sittings of 8 hours in one week are 1,440 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000. For a whole session period above that, the $24 pack holds 5,000 minutes.

Quotes you can check

Key quotes come with the member named and the timestamp, and the figures, dates and names said in the chamber are listed. Before publishing a quote, open that minute of the recording and listen.

Why sittings are hard to work from

A nine-hour sitting is public, but it is not searchable.

✗ Watching the stream

Following a full sitting means hours of video, and the official record can take time to appear.

  • Nine hours of video to find one exchange
  • Live notes that miss the wording
  • Upload limits far below a sitting
  • Long streams cut into parts
  • Regional chambers in Catalan left out
  • Quotes with no timestamp to check

✓ The sitting as text

Paste the link once and the session comes back as a transcript you can search and quote.

  • A committee hearing back in minutes
  • YouTube and Vimeo links pasted directly
  • Sittings up to 10 hours as one file
  • Members named in summary and quotes
  • Spanish and Catalan detected
  • Exports for the newsroom or the office

FAQ

Parliamentary sessions in Spain: common questions.

How long does a 9-hour sitting take to transcribe?

About 18 minutes. Processing runs at about 2 minutes per hour of audio, so a 3-hour committee hearing takes around 6.

What does it cost to transcribe a long sitting?

A sitting of up to 500 minutes fits the $6 pack. A 9-hour sitting is 540 minutes and goes on the $12 pack of 2,000; a session period with more than 2,000 minutes of sittings goes on the $24 pack of 5,000. Prices are in USD, and a first-time visitor gets the first 20 minutes free.

Is there a limit on the session's length or file size?

A single file can last up to 10 hours or reach 5 GB. Before the first pack, uploads up to 2 GB start right away, and a stream recording over 6 hours starts once a pack is on the account.

The sitting ran longer than 10 hours. What now?

Send it as two files, for example split at a recess, and each comes back with its own transcript. Anything under 10 hours goes in whole.

Does it work for regional parliaments that sit in Catalan?

Yes. Catalan and Spanish are both detected automatically, out of 99 languages. A sitting is transcribed on its main language, so read any long intervention in the other language against the recording.

Which exports are available, and what happens to the file?

The sitting downloads in five formats: TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. The transcript is a working text, not the chamber's official record of debates.
