Quick answers

The five questions people ask before the first upload.

What does WhipScribe do for Google Drive recordings?
Export a Library folder to Google Drive and WhipScribe creates a new Drive folder holding a TXT and an SRT for every finished transcript.
How much does it cost?
The summary of any recording is free to read; a pack from $6 (500 minutes) opens the full transcript. Credit packs: $6 = 500 min · $8 = 1,000 min · $12 = 2,000 min · $24 = 5,000 min; credits never expire and there is no seat fee. Workspace is $19 a month for unlimited transcription (300-hour fair-use mark; 100 GB of storage included, then $3 per extra 100 GB a month).
How long does a transcript take?
A one-hour recording is usually ready in about two minutes; most files finish in under a minute. Files up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file.
Is it private?
Yes. Transcribed on our own servers; audio is never sent to a third-party AI service. Never used to train, fine-tune or evaluate any model. Delete a recording and its transcript at any time; account deletion removes every record tied to the email.
Which languages and files does it accept?
99+ languages, detected automatically; the transcript stays in the recording's language. Input: any audio or video file (MP3, MP4, M4A, WAV, FLAC, OGG, WEBM, MOV, GSM and more), a YouTube, podcast, RSS, Google Drive, Twitch or Kick link, or a microphone recording. Export: TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT, JSON.

What matters when transcribing Google Drive recordings?

01

A whole folder in one move

Open a Library folder's ⋯ menu and choose Export to Google Drive…. WhipScribe makes a new folder in your Drive and writes a TXT and an SRT for each finished transcript in it. Every export is its own new folder, so nothing already in your Drive is overwritten or moved.

02

One recording from its download sheet

When one interview or one meeting has to be in Drive now, its download sheet has Save to Drive (.txt + .srt). DOCX, VTT and JSON stay as downloads from the same sheet, for the people who need a Word file or the timings as data.

03

Round trip from a Drive import

Import a Drive folder through Library → Add content → Google Drive and tick "When it finishes, offer to send the transcripts back to Drive". When the import is done the app offers the export; accept it and the transcripts go back out as TXT and SRT, and the Library keeps the searchable copy.

04

When the team reads in Notion instead

If the knowledge base lives in Notion, the recipe at /integrations/notion has a small poller write one Notion page per finished transcript, split into 2,000-character blocks. Drive keeps the TXT and SRT files; Notion keeps the page people read.

How it works

How do I transcribe a Google Drive recording?

Step 1

Connect Google Drive

In the Library, Add content → Google Drive. Google asks you to allow read-only access to your Drive.

Step 2

Pick files or folders

Tick single files or whole folders, subfolders included. Run it again later and the files already done are skipped.

Step 3

Read, then send it back

Each file gets a transcript and the Intelligence brief. Save to Drive writes TXT and SRT into a new Drive folder.

Questions

What else do people ask about Google Drive transcription?

Does WhipScribe put the transcript next to the original file in Drive?

No. Export always creates a new Drive folder and writes the transcripts there, a TXT and an SRT per finished recording. Your original folders and recordings are left as they are.

Can I save transcripts to Drive as Word documents?

Not through the Drive export: it writes TXT and SRT from the app, and txt, srt, vtt or md through the API. DOCX and JSON are downloads from each recording's download sheet, which you can add to Drive yourself.

Do I need Google Drive connected to export?

Yes. Export writes through the same Google Drive connection the import uses, so it needs a signed-in account with Drive connected. The connection is made from Library → Add content → Google Drive.

Transcribe it here. Keep the text in Drive.
