Quick answers

The five questions people ask before the first upload.

What does WhipScribe do for shared Google Drive link recordings?
When recordings arrive as Google Drive links from other people, paste the whole list into Library → Paste links → A list of links, one link per line. Each link becomes its own recording, and a link pasted twice counts once.
How much does it cost?
The summary of any recording is free to read; a pack from $6 (500 minutes) opens the full transcript. Credit packs: $6 = 500 min · $8 = 1,000 min · $12 = 2,000 min · $24 = 5,000 min; credits never expire and there is no seat fee. Workspace is $19 a month for unlimited transcription (300-hour fair-use mark; 100 GB of storage included, then $3 per extra 100 GB a month).
How long does a transcript take?
A one-hour recording is usually ready in about two minutes; most files finish in under a minute. Files up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file.
Is it private?
Yes. Transcribed on our own servers; audio is never sent to a third-party AI service. Never used to train, fine-tune or evaluate any model. Delete a recording and its transcript at any time; account deletion removes every record tied to the email.
Which languages and files does it accept?
99+ languages, detected automatically; the transcript stays in the recording's language. Input: any audio or video file (MP3, MP4, M4A, WAV, FLAC, OGG, WEBM, MOV, GSM and more), a YouTube, podcast, RSS, Google Drive, Twitch or Kick link, or a microphone recording. Export: TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT, JSON.

Built for Drive share links

What matters when transcribing shared Google Drive link recordings?

01

Built for links you did not create

Assignments, contest entries and recorded interview answers usually sit in someone else's Drive, so there is nothing to import from your own. A file shared as 'Anyone with the link' is fetched directly, with no Drive connection on your side and no account needed on theirs.

02

One link per line, one recording per link

Paste the list from an email thread, a form-response sheet or a chat export, one link per line. Each becomes its own recording in your Library, and a link that appears twice in the list is transcribed once, so a row copied twice from the sheet does not cost twice.

03

File links only, not folder links

Links to a single file work, in the /file/d/… form or the ?id= form. A link to a Drive folder is not fetched; ask for the file links instead. For a folder in your own Drive, use Library → Add content → Google Drive, which imports whole folders.

04

Private links tell you how to fix them

A file that is not shared fails as not shared, says nothing was charged and links three help pages: how to share a Drive file for transcription, how to transcribe one without making it public, and how to make it private again afterwards. The other links are separate recordings and are not affected.

How it works

How do I transcribe a shared Google Drive link recording?

Step 1

Collect the links

Ask for each recording as a single Google Drive file shared as 'Anyone with the link'. Folder links are not fetched.

Step 2

Paste the list

In the Library, Add content → Paste links → A list of links, one link per line. Each link becomes its own recording; a link pasted twice counts once.

Step 3

Read each transcript

Every recording gets a transcript and the Intelligence brief. A private link comes back as not shared, with nothing charged and the steps to fix it.

Student presentation — the water cycle in a river delta

7 m · English · 900 words

Brief overview

The student explains how seasonal flooding moves water and silt through the delta and why it matters for the farms built on it.

  1. Evaporation and rainfall over the catchment are set out at 00:40 with a hand-drawn diagram.
  2. Seasonal flooding is linked to fertile silt at 02:50.
  3. The talk closes at 05:30 on how dams upstream reduce that silt.

Questions this recording answers

What is the main point of the presentation?
Seasonal floods carry the silt that keeps delta farmland fertile.
What risk does the student raise?
Dams upstream trap silt, so less of it reaches the farms, from 05:30.

Questions

What else do people ask about shared Google Drive link transcription?

Which Google Drive links can be transcribed?

Links to a single file shared as 'Anyone with the link', in the /file/d/<id> or ?id=<id> form. Folder links are not fetched. A private file comes back as not shared, nothing is charged, and the message links the steps to share it.

Do the people sending the links need a WhipScribe account?

No. They only share the file as 'Anyone with the link'. You paste the links into your own Library and the recordings belong to your account; they can make the file private again once the transcript is done.

Can Claude or another assistant transcribe a list of Drive links?

Yes, through the WhipScribe MCP connector: transcribe_urls_batch takes up to 20 public links per call, and one failed link does not stop the rest. Setup is at /claude.

Paste the list. Get one transcript per link.
