How it works

Hungarian subtitles in three steps.

1

Upload the Hungarian recording

Drop a file, or paste a public link from YouTube, Google Drive or a podcast feed. Files over 500 MB continue on the upload page, up to 10 hours or 5 GB.

2

Read it through

Read the first Hungarian cues against the audio. Correct a line on the transcript and the subtitle file carries the correction.

3

Download SRT or VTT

SRT for YouTube Studio and video editors, VTT for web players. TXT, DOCX and JSON come from the same transcript.

What to expect with Hungarian

Honest notes for Hungarian recordings.

For a transcript rather than subtitles, see transcribe Hungarian, Hungarian audio to text and Hungarian YouTube video to text. For subtitles from any YouTube link, YouTube to SRT; for any file, the SRT generator.

Captioning Hungarian

Long words and two letters that old encodings cannot hold.

Hungarian writes the long vowels ő and ű with a double acute accent. Those two letters are not in the old Western European encodings (Latin-1 and Windows-1252), so a file saved in one of them, or opened by a tool that assumes one, shows them as õ and û or as question marks. The download is UTF-8; keep it that way when you edit and re-save it.

Suffixes stack onto a word instead of standing apart, so a single Hungarian word can be as wide as an English phrase. A cue that fits two lines in English may need three in Hungarian; split it at a clause end rather than inside a long word.

Delivery

Where a Hungarian subtitle file goes.

Before you rely on it

What the subtitle file is, and what it is not.

One cue per spoken phrase

Each cue is a phrase from the transcript with its start and end time. Most run a few seconds. A passage spoken without a pause can come out as one long cue of up to about half a minute, so split those in your editor if your platform wants two short lines at a time.

Timing comes from the audio

Cue times are taken from the recording itself, so the file lines up with the video or audio you uploaded. If you trim the start of the video afterwards, shift the cues by the same amount in your editor.

Fix a line before you download

Open the transcript, correct a misheard name or number on its line, and the SRT and VTT you download carry the correction with the timing unchanged.

A plain file, not a styled video

You get the subtitle file. Fonts, colours, position and captions drawn into the picture are done in your video editor or player, which reads this file.

Limits

Up to 10 hours or 5 GB per recording. The box on this page takes files up to 500 MB; larger ones continue on the upload page. 99+ languages, detected automatically.

Speakers

Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters. The cues in the subtitle file carry the words and their timing only.

Pricing

What Hungarian subtitles cost

The preview is free. When the full transcript needs a pack, one-time packs are $4 for 500 minutes, $12 for 2,000 minutes, $24 for 5,000 minutes. Credits never expire, which comes to about $0.29 to $0.48 per hour of audio.

Figures are the share of a pack each recording uses. A button opens secure checkout for that pack. Every export format is included; full details on the pricing page.

FAQ

Hungarian subtitles, answered.

How do I make Hungarian subtitles for a video?

Upload the video or paste its link in the box on this page. The Hungarian speech is transcribed in Latin script; read it through, correct any line, and download SRT or VTT from the transcript.

Why do ő and ű show as õ and û in my player?

The file was opened or re-saved in an old Western encoding. Open the downloaded SRT or VTT as UTF-8 in your editor, or re-download it, and the letters display correctly.

Are Hungarian names kept in Hungarian order?

Yes. The text follows what was said, so a speaker who says Kovács Anna gets Kovács Anna in the cue.

Which font shows Hungarian subtitles correctly?

Any font that covers Latin Extended-A, which nearly every modern system font does. Check one cue with ő and ű before you export a whole video.

How accurate are Hungarian subtitles?

We have not published a benchmark figure for Hungarian, so we do not quote one. Judge it on your own recording: the free preview (free preview of the opening minutes) shows the text before you pay.

How long can a Hungarian recording be?

Up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file. Files over 500 MB continue on the upload page rather than in the box on this page.
