How it works

Slovak subtitles in three steps.

1

Upload the Slovak recording

Drop a file, or paste a public link from YouTube, Google Drive or a podcast feed. Files over 500 MB continue on the upload page, up to 10 hours or 5 GB.

2

Read it through

Read the first Slovak cues against the audio. Correct a line on the transcript and the subtitle file carries the correction.

3

Download SRT or VTT

SRT for YouTube Studio and video editors, VTT for web players. TXT, DOCX and JSON come from the same transcript.

What to expect with Slovak

Honest notes for Slovak recordings.

For a transcript rather than subtitles, see transcribe Slovak, Slovak audio to text and Slovak YouTube video to text. For subtitles from any YouTube link, YouTube to SRT; for any file, the SRT generator.

Captioning Slovak

The letters that tell Slovak from Czech on screen.

Slovak uses letters Czech does not: ľ, ĺ, ŕ, ô and ä. A subtitle file made with a tool or font that only knows Czech can show them wrongly, and a Slovak viewer notices at once. Keep the downloaded UTF-8 file in UTF-8, and preview a cue with ľ and ô in the font you plan to burn in or ship.

Slovak and Czech are close enough that interviews and broadcasts often mix them. Each speaker's words stay in the language they used, so a Czech guest on a Slovak programme gets Czech text. That is correct for subtitles, and it is the passage to read through.

Delivery

Where a Slovak subtitle file goes.

Before you rely on it

What the subtitle file is, and what it is not.

One cue per spoken phrase

Each cue is a phrase from the transcript with its start and end time. Most run a few seconds. A passage spoken without a pause can come out as one long cue of up to about half a minute, so split those in your editor if your platform wants two short lines at a time.

Timing comes from the audio

Cue times are taken from the recording itself, so the file lines up with the video or audio you uploaded. If you trim the start of the video afterwards, shift the cues by the same amount in your editor.

Fix a line before you download

Open the transcript, correct a misheard name or number on its line, and the SRT and VTT you download carry the correction with the timing unchanged.

A plain file, not a styled video

You get the subtitle file. Fonts, colours, position and captions drawn into the picture are done in your video editor or player, which reads this file.

Limits

Up to 10 hours or 5 GB per recording. The box on this page takes files up to 500 MB; larger ones continue on the upload page. 99+ languages, detected automatically.

Speakers

Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters. The cues in the subtitle file carry the words and their timing only.

Pricing

What Slovak subtitles cost

The preview is free. When the full transcript needs a pack, one-time packs are $4 for 500 minutes, $12 for 2,000 minutes, $24 for 5,000 minutes. Credits never expire, which comes to about $0.29 to $0.48 per hour of audio.

Recording$4 pack$12 pack$24 pack

1-hour podcast$0.48$0.36$0.29

Figures are the share of a pack each recording uses. A button opens secure checkout for that pack. Every export format is included; full details on the pricing page.

FAQ

Slovak subtitles, answered.

How do I make Slovak subtitles for a video?

Upload the video or paste its link in the box on this page. The Slovak speech is transcribed in Latin script; read it through, correct any line, and download SRT or VTT from the transcript.

Will Slovak speech come back as Czech?

No. Slovak is written as Slovak. If a Czech speaker is in the same recording, their words appear as they said them.

Why does ľ or ô show as a box?

The font in your player or editor lacks those letters. Choose a font that covers Latin Extended-A; most system fonts do.

Can I put the Slovak file on YouTube?

Yes. In YouTube Studio add Slovak as the subtitle language and upload the SRT with timing.

How accurate are Slovak subtitles?

We have not published a benchmark figure for Slovak, so we do not quote one. Judge it on your own recording: the free preview (free preview of the opening minutes) shows the text before you pay.

How long can a Slovak recording be?

Up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file. Files over 500 MB continue on the upload page rather than in the box on this page.
