How it works

Telugu subtitles in three steps.

1

Upload the Telugu recording

Drop a file, or paste a public link from YouTube, Google Drive or a podcast feed. Files over 500 MB continue on the upload page, up to 10 hours or 5 GB.

2

Read it through

Read the first Telugu cues against the audio. Correct a line on the transcript and the subtitle file carries the correction.

3

Download SRT or VTT

SRT for YouTube Studio and video editors, VTT for web players. TXT, DOCX and JSON come from the same transcript.

What to expect with Telugu

Honest notes for Telugu recordings.

For a transcript rather than subtitles, see transcribe Telugu, Telugu audio to text and Telugu YouTube video to text. For subtitles from any YouTube link, YouTube to SRT; for any file, the SRT generator.

Captioning Telugu

Round letters, stacked consonants and joined words.

Telugu writes a consonant cluster by placing the second consonant below the first as a vattu, and vowel signs (gunintalu) attach above, below or beside the letter. A Telugu syllable can therefore be tall, and a font or player that does not shape the script properly draws the parts side by side. Preview one cue in the real player before exporting a whole series.

Words in Telugu join at their boundaries (sandhi), so a phrase that is three words in English can be one long written word. The text keeps those joined forms as spoken, which makes lines wider than the word count suggests.

Spoken Telugu also shortens the written verb: చేస్తున్నాను (I am doing) is usually said చేస్తున్నా in conversation, and a vlog sounds nothing like a news bulletin. A captioner has to decide whether cues show the spoken or the written form, so settle that in the first few cues and hold it. Telugu has its own digits (౦ to ౯), but most Telugu print and screen text today uses Western digits; pick one style for the whole file.

Before you rely on it

What the subtitle file is, and what it is not.

One cue per spoken phrase

Each cue is a phrase from the transcript with its start and end time. Most run a few seconds. A passage spoken without a pause can come out as one long cue of up to about half a minute, so split those in your editor if your platform wants two short lines at a time.

Timing comes from the audio

Cue times are taken from the recording itself, so the file lines up with the video or audio you uploaded. If you trim the start of the video afterwards, shift the cues by the same amount in your editor.

Fix a line before you download

Open the transcript, correct a misheard name or number on its line, and the SRT and VTT you download carry the correction with the timing unchanged.

A plain file, not a styled video

You get the subtitle file. Fonts, colours, position and captions drawn into the picture are done in your video editor or player, which reads this file.

Limits

Up to 10 hours or 5 GB per recording. The box on this page takes files up to 500 MB; larger ones continue on the upload page. 99+ languages, detected automatically.

Speakers

Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters. The cues in the subtitle file carry the words and their timing only.

FAQ

Telugu subtitles, answered.

How do I make Telugu subtitles for a video?

Upload the video or paste its link in the box on this page. The Telugu speech is transcribed in Telugu script; read it through, correct any line, and download SRT or VTT from the transcript.

Why do Telugu letters look broken in my video editor?

The editor's font or text engine is not shaping Telugu. Pick a font that covers the script, such as Noto Sans Telugu, and check a cue with a stacked consonant.

Are English words written in Telugu script?

They appear as spoken. Mixed Telugu-English sentences are common and are the parts worth reviewing.

Does it handle both Andhra and Telangana speech?

Both are transcribed. Regional words and names are the main thing to check.

How accurate are Telugu subtitles?

We have not published a benchmark figure for Telugu, so we do not quote one. Judge it on your own recording: the free preview (first 20 minutes free) shows the text before you pay.

How long can a Telugu recording be?

Up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file. Files over 500 MB continue on the upload page rather than in the box on this page.
