Quick answers

The five questions people ask before the first upload.

What does WhipScribe do for call recording recordings?
Point the Google Drive import at the folder your call-recorder app backs up to: every audio file becomes its own timestamped transcript under its own file name, and the app's other backup files are skipped.
How much does it cost?
The summary of any recording is free to read; a pack from $6 (500 minutes) opens the full transcript. Credit packs: $6 = 500 min · $8 = 1,000 min · $12 = 2,000 min · $24 = 5,000 min; credits never expire and there is no seat fee. Workspace is $19 a month for unlimited transcription (300-hour fair-use mark; 100 GB of storage included, then $3 per extra 100 GB a month).
How long does a transcript take?
A one-hour recording is usually ready in about two minutes; most files finish in under a minute. Files up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file.
Is it private?
Yes. Transcribed on our own servers; audio is never sent to a third-party AI service. Never used to train, fine-tune or evaluate any model. Delete a recording and its transcript at any time; account deletion removes every record tied to the email.
Which languages and files does it accept?
99+ languages, detected automatically; the transcript stays in the recording's language. Input: any audio or video file (MP3, MP4, M4A, WAV, FLAC, OGG, WEBM, MOV, GSM and more), a YouTube, podcast, RSS, Google Drive, Twitch or Kick link, or a microphone recording. Export: TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT, JSON.

What matters when transcribing call recording recordings?

01

Only the calls come in

Recorder apps back up more than audio: settings files, databases, notes. The Drive import counts only audio and video, by type or by extension (MP3, M4A, WAV, AAC, OGG, OPUS and others), and leaves everything else alone. The review step shows how many calls, in how many folders, and the total size before anything starts.

02

Find the call where it was agreed

Ask this folder takes a plain question, such as which call agreed the March start date, and answers from the recordings that mention it, up to three, each cited by recording and moment. Each call also opens on a brief with the names, numbers and dates that were said.

03

Keep up without paying twice

Back-ups keep arriving. Run the same import next month and it skips the calls this account already transcribed from Drive, matched by Drive file ID, so only new calls are transcribed. Transcribing a skipped call again is opt-in and costs credits again.

04

Short calls, odd names

Recorder file names such as a phone number and a timestamp are kept as the recording name, so a call is easy to match back to the log. Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, and every line carries its timestamp so you can replay the exact words.

How it works

How do I transcribe a call recording recording?

Step 1

Connect Google Drive

In the Library, Add content → Google Drive. Google asks you to allow read-only access to your Drive.

Step 2

Pick files or folders

Tick single files or whole folders, subfolders included. Run it again later and the files already done are skipped.

Step 3

Read, then send it back

Each file gets a transcript and the Intelligence brief. Save to Drive writes TXT and SRT into a new Drive folder.

Questions

What else do people ask about call recording transcription?

Will WhipScribe watch the backup folder for new calls?

No. A Drive import runs once. To cover new calls automatically, build a Zapier, Make or n8n flow with a new-file trigger that sends each file to the API; or simply run the import again, and calls already done are skipped.

Can I send a summary of each call to Slack or log it in Airtable?

Yes, through the API, which comes with the 5,000-minute pack or Workspace. A small poller can post a snippet or summary to a Slack channel as each call finishes, or keep one Airtable row per call with its job_id and status and fill the transcript fields when it is done.

Is anything changed in my Drive?

Importing reads the files and changes nothing in the backup folder. If you choose Export to Google Drive…, transcripts are written to a new Drive folder as TXT and SRT files.
