Quick answers
The five questions people ask before the first upload.
- What does WhipScribe do for Google Meet recordings?
- Every recorded Google Meet call lands as an MP4 in the Meet Recordings folder of the organiser's Drive, and nobody rewatches them.
- How much does it cost?
- The summary of any recording is free to read; a pack from $6 (500 minutes) opens the full transcript. Credit packs: $6 = 500 min · $8 = 1,000 min · $12 = 2,000 min · $24 = 5,000 min; credits never expire and there is no seat fee. Workspace is $19 a month for unlimited transcription (300-hour fair-use mark; 100 GB of storage included, then $3 per extra 100 GB a month).
- How long does a transcript take?
- A one-hour recording is usually ready in about two minutes; most files finish in under a minute. Files up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file.
- Is it private?
- Yes. Transcribed on our own servers; audio is never sent to a third-party AI service. Never used to train, fine-tune or evaluate any model. Delete a recording and its transcript at any time; account deletion removes every record tied to the email.
- Which languages and files does it accept?
- 99+ languages, detected automatically; the transcript stays in the recording's language. Input: any audio or video file (MP3, MP4, M4A, WAV, FLAC, OGG, WEBM, MOV, GSM and more), a YouTube, podcast, RSS, Google Drive, Twitch or Kick link, or a microphone recording. Export: TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT, JSON.

Built for Google Meet recordings
What matters when transcribing Google Meet recordings?
Pick Meet Recordings, or just this quarter
In the Library choose Add content → Google Drive and open Meet Recordings in the browser, which lists My Drive one folder level at a time. Use the whole folder, or tick only the calls you need; Meet names each file after the meeting title and start time, so a search by file name finds a series quickly.
The video in, the paperwork left alone
Meet often saves a transcript Doc or a chat file next to the MP4. Only audio and video are imported; Docs, text files and pictures in the folder are skipped, so there is nothing to clean out first. Each MP4 becomes its own recording under its meeting's file name; import the whole folder and they land in a Library folder named Meet Recordings.
A brief per meeting, not an hour of video
Each call opens on a brief with its takeaways, chapters you can tap to play, the names, numbers and dates that were said, and the questions the meeting answers. Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, with the timestamped transcript one tab away.
Next month: only the new calls
An import runs once; it does not watch the folder. Run the same Meet Recordings import again next month and calls already transcribed from Drive are skipped, matched by their Drive file, so only the new ones start, and they land in the same Library folder.
How it works
How do I transcribe a Google Meet recording?
Connect Google Drive
In the Library, Add content → Google Drive. Google asks you to allow read-only access to your Drive.
Pick files or folders
Tick single files or whole folders, subfolders included. Run it again later and the files already done are skipped.
Read, then send it back
Each file gets a transcript and the Intelligence brief. Save to Drive writes TXT and SRT into a new Drive folder.

Questions
What else do people ask about Google Meet transcription?
Why can't I find someone else's Meet recording?
Meet saves a recording to the organiser's Drive. If you were a guest, ask the organiser to import it from their account, or to share the single file as "Anyone with the link" so you can paste the link in. Private links are refused before anything is charged; see /answers/share-a-google-drive-file-for-transcription.
Can new Meet recordings be transcribed automatically?
Not by the Drive import, which runs once when you start it. To cover new recordings as they arrive, a Zapier or Make scenario can watch the folder and submit each new file to the WhipScribe API with an Idempotency-Key so a retry does not bill twice. Otherwise, re-run the import monthly and only the new calls start.
Does re-importing the folder charge me again for old meetings?
No. Files this account already transcribed from that Drive folder are skipped and not charged. Transcribing them again is a separate opt-in that costs credits again and keeps the earlier transcripts.
