Upload the video or paste a link and download Finnish SRT and VTT files with cues from word-level timings. Finnish speech comes back as Finnish cue text. For the transcript by itself, see the Finnish transcript page. Packs from $4 at at any length, with further minutes from $8 per 1,000.
The path
No software to install, no manual timecoding.
Send a video or audio file in, or paste a link. Larger files continue on the upload page, up to 10 hours or 5 GB.
Timings sit on each word, so moving through the recording is instant. Names such as Jyväskylä, Hämeenlinna and Rovaniemi are worth a look.
SRT suits editors and platform uploads, VTT suits browser players, and TXT, DOCX, JSON and MD come too.
Captioning Finnish
Finnish inflects by stacking endings onto a stem, and fifteen cases plus possessive and clitic suffixes mean a single word can carry what English spells out in five or six. Words of twenty to thirty characters are not exotic; they turn up in ordinary administrative and technical speech. A line with room for seven English words may hold two Finnish ones, and such a word cannot be broken across lines without leaving a fragment that reads as a different word.
Doubled letters are the other thing to get right. Length is phonemic in Finnish, for both vowels and consonants, so tuli, tuuli and tulli are three unrelated words, and tapan and tapaan differ by one letter and a great deal of meaning. A caption that loses or gains a doubled letter is not a typo the reader can see past.
Caption downloads are cue text and timecodes only, so nothing prefixes a line with a speaker name. The transcript view separates the voices on screen, and the JSON export from the same job carries that as data.
Delivery
Platform track, editor import or burned-in text.
Attach the SRT as the Finnish track in Studio. An uploaded file is indexed and handles long technical words better than automatic captions.
Text is rendered into the frame here, so import the SRT into your editor and allow width for long single words.
SRT arrives as a caption track with the cue timings intact, ready for styling in a Resolve timeline.
VTT loads through an HTML5 track element and suits learning platforms. Build it from a link for published video.

FAQ
Finnish. Captions are written in the language that was spoken, so Finnish audio produces Finnish cue text and nothing is converted into another language.
You give it the line. Breaking a Finnish word across two lines leaves a fragment that reads as a different word, so the cue is built around it.
Length is meaningful in Finnish. Tuli, tuuli and tulli are three different words, so a lost or added letter changes what the caption says.
No. They are separate letters with their own place at the end of the alphabet, and treating them as decorated vowels is wrong.
Considerably fewer. A line with room for seven English words may take only two Finnish ones, so expect more cues for the same minute.
No. SRT and VTT carry cue text and timings only; the separation between voices lives in the transcript view and the JSON export.
