Quick answers
The five questions people ask before the first upload.
- What does WhipScribe do for board meeting recordings?
- Import the meeting recordings from Google Drive in one run, one transcript per meeting. Draft minutes from each brief, and ask the folder when a motion or a budget figure came up.
- How much does it cost?
- The summary of any recording is free to read; a pack from $6 (500 minutes) opens the full transcript. Credit packs: $6 = 500 min · $8 = 1,000 min · $12 = 2,000 min · $24 = 5,000 min; credits never expire and there is no seat fee. Workspace is $19 a month for unlimited transcription (300-hour fair-use mark; 100 GB of storage included, then $3 per extra 100 GB a month).
- How long does a transcript take?
- A one-hour recording is usually ready in about two minutes; most files finish in under a minute. Files up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file.
- Is it private?
- Yes. Transcribed on our own servers; audio is never sent to a third-party AI service. Never used to train, fine-tune or evaluate any model. Delete a recording and its transcript at any time; account deletion removes every record tied to the email.
- Which languages and files does it accept?
- 99+ languages, detected automatically; the transcript stays in the recording's language. Input: any audio or video file (MP3, MP4, M4A, WAV, FLAC, OGG, WEBM, MOV, GSM and more), a YouTube, podcast, RSS, Google Drive, Twitch or Kick link, or a microphone recording. Export: TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT, JSON.

Built for Board meetings
What matters when transcribing board meeting recordings?
From the Drive folder to one transcript per meeting
Sign in, open the Library, choose Add content → Google Drive and pick the meetings folder. The in-app browser opens on My Drive and can search the whole Drive by file name; Google's own picker is there as a fallback. Each recording becomes its own transcript under its file name, in a Library folder with the same name as the Drive folder.
Draft minutes from the brief
Each meeting comes back with a brief and takeaways, timestamped chapters by topic, and the names, numbers and dates that were said. Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters. Lift the exact wording of a motion from the transcript, check it against the recording at its timestamp, and the board adopts the minutes as it always has.
Find the meeting where it came up
Ask this folder answers a question such as when the reserve-fund increase was first proposed, from up to three meetings that mention it, each cited by recording and moment. Ask library covers every folder, which helps because a folder ask does not include its subfolders.
Room recordings, long evenings
Board meetings are recorded on a phone or a laptop in the middle of the table, often with a long closed-session gap and people talking over each other. Every line carries its timestamp, so a hard-to-hear passage is one click from the audio. Each import has one language setting; leave it on auto and the language is detected per file.
How it works
How do I transcribe a board meeting recording?
Connect Google Drive
In the Library, Add content → Google Drive. Google asks you to allow read-only access to your Drive.
Pick files or folders
Tick single files or whole folders, subfolders included. Run it again later and the files already done are skipped.
Read, then send it back
Each file gets a transcript and the Intelligence brief. Save to Drive writes TXT and SRT into a new Drive folder.

What comes back from a board meeting recording?
Monthly board meeting — roof repair bids and the reserve fund

Questions
What else do people ask about board meeting transcription?
The recordings were shared with me, not uploaded by me. Can I still import them?
Connecting Google Drive gives WhipScribe read access to what your Google account can open. Search the whole Drive by file name in the in-app browser, or use Google's own picker. If you only have a single public link, paste it into the box instead; a private link fails with nothing charged and a link to the help on sharing a Drive file.
Does it write the minutes for us?
No. It gives you a timestamped transcript and a brief with chapters, takeaways and the names and figures that were said, which makes the draft much faster. Your board still approves the official minutes through its normal process.
Can we keep the recordings private?
Yes. You do not need to make any file public: the signed-in Drive import reads the files with your permission. Audio is transcribed on WhipScribe's own servers, never sent to a third-party AI service and never used for training, and you can delete a recording and its transcript at any time.
Write the minutes from text, not from the recording.
Packs from $6 for 500 minutes, credits never expire; the summary of any recording is free to read.
