How it works

Cebuano subtitles in three steps.

1

Upload the Cebuano recording

Drop a file, or paste a public link from YouTube, Google Drive or a podcast feed. Files over 500 MB continue on the upload page, up to 10 hours or 5 GB.

2

Read it through

Read the first Cebuano cues against the audio. Correct a line on the transcript and the subtitle file carries the correction.

3

Download SRT or VTT

SRT for YouTube Studio and video editors, VTT for web players. TXT, DOCX and JSON come from the same transcript.

What to expect with Cebuano

Honest notes for Cebuano recordings.

For a transcript rather than subtitles, see transcribe Cebuano and Cebuano YouTube video to text. For subtitles from any YouTube link, YouTube to SRT; for any file, the SRT generator.

Captioning Cebuano

Bisaya on a caption line: spelling that has no single standard.

Cebuano is written in the Latin alphabet, but there is no spelling everyone follows. The same word is written with o or u and with e or i depending on the writer, the glottal stop is usually left unmarked, and words borrowed from Spanish and English keep or lose their original spelling. A subtitle file is read by people who each have their own habits, so pick one spelling for the words that repeat in your video and hold it across every cue.

Time, money and dates are often said with Spanish numbers (alas tres, singko pesos), while counting in everyday talk uses Cebuano ones. Read those cues against the audio before you publish: a number that comes back wrong is the error a viewer notices first.

Before you rely on it

What the subtitle file is, and what it is not.

One cue per spoken phrase

Each cue is a phrase from the transcript with its start and end time. Most run a few seconds. A passage spoken without a pause can come out as one long cue of up to about half a minute, so split those in your editor if your platform wants two short lines at a time.

Timing comes from the audio

Cue times are taken from the recording itself, so the file lines up with the video or audio you uploaded. If you trim the start of the video afterwards, shift the cues by the same amount in your editor.

Fix a line before you download

Open the transcript, correct a misheard name or number on its line, and the SRT and VTT you download carry the correction with the timing unchanged.

A plain file, not a styled video

You get the subtitle file. Fonts, colours, position and captions drawn into the picture are done in your video editor or player, which reads this file.

Limits

Up to 10 hours or 5 GB per recording. The box on this page takes files up to 500 MB; larger ones continue on the upload page. 99+ languages, detected automatically.

Speakers

Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters. The cues in the subtitle file carry the words and their timing only.

Pricing

What Cebuano subtitles cost

One-time packs are $6 for 500 minutes, $8 for 1,000 minutes, $12 for 2,000 minutes, $24 for 5,000 minutes. Credits never expire, which comes to about $0.29 to $0.72 per hour of audio. In some countries the free preview is not offered and the box asks for a pack first; the smallest is $6 for 500 minutes.

FAQ

Cebuano subtitles, answered.

How do I make Cebuano subtitles for a video?

Upload the video or paste its link in the box on this page. The Cebuano speech is transcribed in Latin script; read it through, correct any line, and download SRT or VTT from the transcript.

Does it detect Cebuano automatically?

Not reliably yet. On our Cebuano test recordings the language was labelled as Tagalog for all five files. The words still come back as text you can correct, but expect to read every cue.

Is Bisaya the same as Cebuano?

In everyday speech, yes: Bisaya usually means Cebuano. Hiligaynon and Waray are different Visayan languages and are not reliably handled.

Why are some Cebuano words spelled two ways in my file?

Cebuano spelling is not standardised, so o/u and e/i vary between writers. Choose one spelling for repeated words and fix it on the transcript before you download.

How accurate are Cebuano subtitles?

On public read-speech test recordings about 48 words in 100 differed from the reference, so the subtitles need a full read-through and corrections before you publish. Fix any line on the transcript and the SRT and VTT you download carry the correction.

How long can a Cebuano recording be?

Up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file. Files over 500 MB continue on the upload page rather than in the box on this page.
